The Scioto Valley Brass & Percussion Company
History, Roots, Pride, Tradition
History has a way of repeating itself. The British style
brass band has its roots in music history from the early
20th century as recreation created by industrial factory workers
and miners.
These bands traveled throughout England to compete with other bands.
The tradition was carried through the generations and flourishes
today. Throughout the decades its popularity grew and the notion
has spread throughout Europe, the United States and countries as
far from the British Isles as Japan!
Tradition, Spirit, Eclectic, Excitement
We are the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Company. Since
1993 we have carried on this tradition, assembling in the
same spirit as the original founders did 100 years ago. Our
group performs with the same instrumentation as the traditional
band: E-flat cornets, alto horns and tubas; euphoniums, trombones,
cornets and baritones.
Its hard to improve a good thing, but we have. Weve
added a modern twist! Our predecessors would be envious to hear
the eclectic repertoire of our library. Dont get us
wrong, we perform traditional brass band literature, but we add
flavor and excitement for people of all ages to enjoy! We
have popular, classical, Broadway, patriotic, and seasonal music
for all occasions. We also perform traditional and contemporary
band music, American and British music theater pieces, and transcriptions
of choral and orchestral works.
Let us play for you
We love what we do and we show it. Our
group consists of professional and avocational performers who
enjoy playing for all audiences. In the British tradition, we do
it for the love of music and take it very seriously. We want to
share the experience with you!

Our Mission
To provide entertainment for our audiences with professional performance
of brass band music;
To provide performance opportunities for Columbus area brass players
and percussionists;
To provide opportunities for brass band composers and arrangers
to have their works performed;
To provide an artistic atmosphere where our "Esprit de Corp"
encourages camaraderie among the members, while we work to provide
musically excellent performances.
