Instrument Characteristics for a Traditional British Brass Band

  • All brass instruments (except Trombones) are conical in design which produces a rich, mellow sound and makes a wide range of tonal colors and dynamics possible.
  • All brass instruments are scored in treble clef (except bass trombone)
  • The instrumentation is set and the size of the group is limited.
  • Brass bands include percussionists who play as many as twenty different instruments.
