Join us for our annual
Yuletide in Brass

Concert, December 14.

yuletide angels

The brilliance of brass will ring through the halls of the Josephinum Pontifical College as The Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Co. celebrate the magic of the holidays.  This year’s concert will take place on Sunday, December 14 at 3:00 pm in Fick Auditorium at the Josephinum, 7625 N. High Street, Columbus.  In light of this holiday season amidst rough economic times, and due to the unfortunate weather-related cancellation of our 2007 holiday concert, this year’s event will be FREE to the public!

Let the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Co. transform a cold, gray winter afternoon into a heart-warming, joyful event for the entire family to enjoy.   The spiritual side of the season will be heard with traditional pieces such as Go Tell it on the Mountain and a riveting vocal rendition of Child of Peace by band member David Muelenburg.  Fantasies come to life with Dances from The Nutcracker Suite, and listen closely to hear How the Grinch Stole Christmas!   Sugarplums will dance in your head as the classic Night Before Christmas is brought to life through music and storytelling combined.  Before the night is through, everyone in the audience will get a chance to make music together with a Christmas Carol Sing Along.

You may know us as the humorous brass band with clowns, cowpokes, and the costumed cadre of cartoon characters, but have you ever wondered who were we before we loaded up the mini-van, the wagon train, the circus bus, and the movie mobile?

Now entering its 16th season, the Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion Co. is a 35-piece British-style brass band comprised of Central Ohio musicians.  Previous concert venues include: The Ashland, KY Brass Band festival, The Great American Festival of Bands in Cedar Rapids, IA, the Central Ohio Brass Arts Festival, and as guest performers with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Westerville Symphony, and the Licking County Symphony.

The Scioto Valley Brass and Percussion will perform under the direction of Conductor Chris Hoch.   A member of the Scioto Valley Band trombone section since 2003, Mr. Hoch has served as the Graduate Assistant for the Ohio State University Marching Band, and is currently the Director of Bands at Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, Ohio.
